Airbus Interview Experience for Associate SkyWise Engineer 2023

Airbus visited our campus to hire final year students(2023 Batch). All departments were allowed to sit for the online assessment. But for some specific roles, some departments were only selected. There were mainly three rounds, the first was a Computer Based Online Recruitment Test (on Aon). followed by 2 rounds of interviews. There was no negative marking. The online assessment was held online (given from home), while the interview was conducted offline. 

Round 1 (Technical and Cognitive Assessment): The exam was held in two parts. 

  • Technical Assessment: There were around 20 questions and 30 minutes were given to solve the questions. The questions mainly asked were on basic flight controls, DBMS, SQL, python, output, and basic questions on thermodynamics and heat were asked in this round. No negative marking was there.
  • Cognitive Assessment: There were 60 questions and 60 minutes were given. The exam consisted of three parts. The first 20 questions were asked in English, which consisted of jumbled sentences, fill-in blanks, comprehension, synonyms, and antonyms. The next 20 questions were asked from Data Interpretation and Reasoning the questions consisted of pattern recognition, next term of series, situation-based questions, and paragraph-based questions. The next 20 questions were on Quantitative Aptitude and questions were on time and work, linear equations, time and distance, functions, etc.

After this round 123 people got selected for the interviews. 17 people were selected from System Installation and Cabin Design, 22 for Stress Engineer, 10 for Simulation Platform & Frameworks Engineer, 10 for Navigation Engineer, 35 for Avionics Software, 11 for health engineer, and 14 for associate Skywise engineer.

Round 2 (Technical Interview): The interview lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview experience was quite nice. They comforted me at first and asked me how my day was going.

  • Introduce yourself
  • We can see that you have done an internship at Airbus, What have you done there?
  • Do you know the schema in DBMS?
  • What is meant by normalization? Can you draw to show it?
  • What is the primary key?
  • What is a composite key?
  • What is clustered index?
  • Do you know joins?
  • What is the Left outer join? (I first draw the diagram). Can you write the query?
  • You have mentioned C++ in your resume. How comfortable are you with C++? 
  • Write a program on Fibonacci numbers in C++ to print the series from 1 to 10000.
  • There is a mango tree and there are 5 gatekeepers. You need to give half of the mango to the first gatekeeper and he will give you one mango back, similarly, you will give half the mango to the next gatekeeper and he will give you one back. It goes on till 5 gatekeepers.
  •  In the end, you find out that the number of mangoes remaining is the same number of mango you have picked up. Find the number of mangoes.
  • You are given 3 baskets one basket contains apples, one has oranges and one bag has both apples and oranges. All the bags are labeled incorrectly. You can pick fruit from only one of the bags. From which bag you should pick the fruit and how can you tell the fruits contained in the rest of the bags?

  • Where do you want to see yourself in 5 years?
  • What do your parents do?
  • Any questions for us? (I asked them what technologies I would be working on if I get selected.) 

The selects for the hr round were not disclosed.

Round 3 (HR Interview): My interview lasted for around 15 minutes.

  • Why do you want to join Airbus?
  • What do your parents do?
  • Who lives in the house?
  • What input can you put into the company?
  • Where do you want to be in 5 years?
  • What interviews have you given before?
  • How can you improve yourself if you join?
  • Can you relocate?

After this round 20 people from all the fields. 6 students from avionics software, 2 students from health engineering, 1 student from communication engineering, 1 student from aerothermal, 2 students from simulation & framework engineering, 2 students from skyWise engineer, 2 students from system installation and cable design, and 4 students from stress engineer. And I was selected for skywise engineer.
