A machine is an integral asset of the manufacturing industry as it makes work easier and convenient. If any part of the machine gets damaged then the whole process of manufacturing a product gets delayed and hence the client is not satisfied with our work. To avoid happening of such scenarios, the Internet of Things is an optimum solution for it. The Internet of Things tells us what needs to be done at a particular moment. The machines are fixed with sensors that send a prior alert message to working staff for its replacement before any damage takes place. Sensors collect data related to the health of the machine and also let us know the current status of the operation of the machine. Thus IoT has now enabled us to understand when the machine needs maintenance and replacement before any unexpected situation occurs. Below are some benefits of IoT in the manufacturing industry. 

1. Increases the Energy Efficiency of Machine: Manufacturing enterprises have to incur huge expenses for energy as a large amount of energy needs to be generated for the operation of machines. The bills are processed in advance before the end of the billing cycle and they show us the energy used for the entire factory. The problem with these bills is that they show us the total consumption of energy and do not show consumption of energy by dividing into subparts. Here IoT plays a significant role it helps us to collect and understand data right down at the device level. It would point out which part of the machine is consuming more energy and which part of the machine needs to boost energy. Thus cutting down the wastage of energy and increasing the energy efficiency of the machine.  IoT-enabled devices and sensors can be used to gather real-time data on production processes, allowing manufacturers to identify and address bottlenecks, reduce downtime, and optimize production flow.

Ease in Predicting the Need for Maintenance: We don’t need to plan any schedule for maintenance as per our historical data as sensors provide us with relevant and real-time data to understand at a particular moment rather than making any guesswork. Thus it cutting down waste from manufacturing cost. If no part of the machine requires replacement or repair then those resources are used elsewhere thus saving time and money. For example: If the temperature of any part of any machine increases then the working staff is alerted about it through sensors and the predictive solution is taken into action. 

3. Improves the Quality of Product: The primary objective of the manufacturer is to improve the quality of the product. A product with high quality has many benefits like it reduces the waste, lowers the cost, increases the customer satisfaction ratio and sales. Achieving this objective is not easy. This where IoT plays an important role. The major issue with the product quality issue is the fault in the machine. The manufacturers do not realize that there is a fault in the machine and as a result, the quality of the product suffers. Through IoT, we can detect any fault in the machine and then repair it thus improving the quality of the product. IoT-enabled devices and sensors can be used to monitor and track the performance of equipment and products, allowing manufacturers to quickly identify and address issues with quality.

4. Reduces the Downtime Expenses: There should be accuracy, timeliness and high quality in production to earn better profits. Without reliability in production, the companies have to bear serious losses. When the machine stops running the middle of production then the product to be manufactured becomes useless and downtime expenses have to be incurred. With the use of IoT can prevent the occurrence of these types of losses. Sensors are capable of detecting the problems in the machine at the moment where there is a decline in performance. Staff are alerted about it and the problem is resolved to reduce downtime expenses.

Better Decision Making: Before the usage of IoT, managers used to assume that everything was going smoothly and never used to have any information about the performance of machines and problems faced by machines. But now the manufacturers get accurate data related to the machine through sensors and they can make appropriate decisions to enhance the performance of the machine and sort out problems faced by machines. 

6.Predictive maintenance: IoT-enabled devices and sensors can be used to monitor the performance and condition of equipment, allowing manufacturers to predict and plan for maintenance needs before they cause downtime or other issues.
