Chapter 1: Environment

The first chapter of geography in the Social Science curriculum is Our Environment. It deals with the basic concepts of the environment like components and the ecosystem. The objective of the chapter is to give an idea about the Environment and human influences in it.

Chapter 2: Inside Our Earth

Chapter 7: Human Environment- Settlement, Transport, and Communication

The seventh chapter is about Human Environment. It deals with the various types of settlement, transport and communication in context of human environment.  The objective of the chapter is to familiarize us with the settlement, transport and communication; and how they contribute to the economy.

Chapter 8: Human-Environment Interactions: The Tropical and Subtropical Region

The eighth chapter is about Human-Environment Interactions. The chapter mostly deals with Amazon Basin, climate, rainforests, life in the Ganga-Brahmaputra basin and lakes. The objective of the chapter is to familiarize ourselves with human and environmental interaction and how they contribute to the economy and society.

Chapter 9: Life in the Deserts

The ninth chapter deals with Life in the Deserts. The chapter deals with mostly the desert environment, by studying two deserts closely, Sahara and Ladakh. These two deserts are studied in detail with respect to climate, flora and fauna, and people.
