Today I am gonna talk about my interview experience with Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS). I’m from Jadavpur University. Due to this outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, our whole placement was conducted through the virtual medium. The Selection was categorized into 3 rounds. Cognizant came to Jadavpur University around September 2020.

There were two profiles, one is GenC(mass recruiter profile) and the other one was GenC-Next.

Round 1: First, there was a screening test. The screening test was about aptitude and some programming questions. In the aptitude section and logical reasoning section, there are easy questions (The best source for aptitude is IndiaBix if you through the IndiaBix then that’s enough). Then there is a code debugging question (the programming language was not specific, you can choose anyone between C++, Java, Python). The time for every debugging question was around 2 minutes. There was a question based on OOPs Concept and the other question based on simple array matrices. And the last section was an essay writing based on a “Problem-Solving using a problem where you use that”.

For the last two sections, there was no sectional cut-off (programming part and the essay writing part).

Round 2: Based on your aptitude test and the programming test, they release a list of who will be going through a programming test for the Genc-Next profile.

According to the PPT(Pre-Placement talk), they said that if you have scored 70-80% in both aptitude and programming, you will be selected for GenC-next Profile.

However, if you go through the GenC-Next programming test, and if you didn’t qualify for the test, you can also face the interview for GenC-profile.

Round3: After completing Gen-C next profile, they release a list of all short-listed candidates for GenC profile. Based on the screening test they selected around 200 students out of 400. My name was on the list. This was the first time I am facing an Interview. The interviewer was so kind. In the first 10 min, she asked me about my family background and where I’m from. Then she said, “let’s come to the interview”. But I didn’t expect that. Anyway, she gave in two aptitude questions and I told her the answer. She asked me some questions about operator overloading. I explain that to her. But the point of surprise is that she didn’t ask me about my resume or any kind of documents (although I’ve all documents). My interview was about 35-40 min. After some days, they released the selected candidate list of 79 students and my name was in it.
