Bandwidth: The maximum pace of data flow via a particular route is known as bandwidth in computing. Network bandwidth, data bandwidth, and digital bandwidth are all examples of bandwidth.

Bandwidth refers to the frequency range between the lowest and highest attainable frequency while meeting a well-defined impairment level in signal processing. The actual bit rate that can be obtained is determined not only by the signal bandwidth but also by the amount of noise on the channel.

The word bandwidth is used to a maximum throughput of a logical or physical communication line in a digital communication system, as well as the net bit rate, also known as ‘peak bit rate,’ ‘information rate,’ or physical layer ‘useful bit rate.’ Bandwidth tests, for example, determine a computer network’s maximum throughput. The Shannon–Hartley channel capacity for various communication systems, which is dependent on the bandwidth in hertz and the noise on the channel, limits the highest rate that can be sustained on a link.

Speed: Every family, student, and company needs the internet nowadays. Almost everyone is looking forward to having access to what is known as high-speed internet. This is due to the fact that high-speed cable, satellite, and wireless connections may all be used to transport data. They can manage numerous internet activities at the same time, such as gaming, streaming, downloading, and many more.

The speed at which data or information flows from the World Wide Web to your home computer, tablet, or smartphone is referred to as Internet speed. It is measured in megabits per second (Mb/s) or megabits per second (Mbps), with 1 megabit equaling 1,024 kilobits. There are three types of internet speed testing. The download speed, upload speed, and latency are the three factors. Each of these groups serves a distinct purpose and performs a different function.

Difference between Bandwidth and Speed:

Bandwidth  Speed
Bandwidth refers to the amount of data that may be transferred in a given amount of time. The term “speed” refers to how quickly something is completed.
It does not depend on download speed, upload speed, and latency It depends on download speed, upload speed, and latency
Unit of measurement is in bits per second (bps) or hertz (Hz) Internet speed is measured in megabits per second, Mbps.
Always higher than speed Speed can never be higher than bandwidth.
Bandwidth is the capacity available for use in data transmission Speed is the data transferring rate.
Bandwidth is used to refer to the performance of the system or the internet. Speed is commonly determined by the physical signaling of the underlying network.
