Mac operating system is one of the most used operating systems in the world. Like Windows and Linux operating systems, this operating system can be found on laptops or computers. But those are known to us by a special name. They are known as MacBooks. MacBook is a special type of laptop. As the operating system belongs to the prestigious Apple Incorporation, so there is no doubt that the laptops of that company will have a different name & frame. MacBooks are famous for their style, and user interfaces. And in most cases, it is a reflection of the aristocracy. For all those reasons, users often brought more MacBooks. After using one MacBook for a long time, there is a certain need for another new MacBook. Growing up with technology is necessary in this world. Also, if one user uses a MacBook, then it is certain that they will always opt for the MacBook. However, there will be a need to transfer the data from the old MacBook to the new one. As all the details were saved on the old MacBook. For that purpose, there is an inbuilt application present to sort it out.

Transferring Data from Old Mac to New Mac

For transferring the data from the old Mac to the new Mac, it is necessary to add those MacBooks with the same internet connection. It is advised to use the router for this process. As there will be a lot of internet use at this operation. So, the MacBooks should connect with the same Wi-Fi. Otherwise, they will not able to connect with each other. It is also advised to connect both the MacBooks to the power during this process. As the process is a very long one. And it will take a few hours to complete the process based on the internet speed. During the process, it is not a good sign to move to the sleep mode of the device. During this operation, the device should be in normal mode. So, it will be better to connect the devices with the power connection.

Operations on Old Mac

Step 1: First, users need to open the Migration Assistant on the old MacBook. Users will find some options there. Among them, users need to click on the To Another Mac option. After that, users need to click on the Continue button.

 

Users have completed all the tasks on the old MacBook. Now, they have to do some tasks with the new MacBook.

Operations on New Mac

Step 1: In new MacBooks also, users need to open the Migration Assistant application. There will be some type of options will provide to the users. But in the new MacBook, users need to choose different options. In this case, users need to decide between a Mac, Time Machine Backup, Or Startup Disk option. Then users need to click on continue.

 

Step 2: If both MacBooks are connected with the same internet connection, it will come to the new window. Users will find the name of the old MacBook. Users need to click on that. After that, users need to click on continue to move forward.

Note: As soon as users click on the Continue button, all the applications running in the background will be closed down. The screen might get blacked out for a while. But there is no need to worry about it. Soon the screen will prompt up.

 

Step 3: Now, on both screens of the MacBooks, a secret code will appear. Users need to check those secret codes. If those codes are the same, then they need to click on the continue option.

 

Here, all the tasks of the users are completed. There is no need to perform any more tasks on any of the MacBooks.

Transferring of Data:

Step 1: It will take some time to transfer the data from the old Mac to the new Mac. Depending upon the strength of the internet & the duration of the usage of the old Mac determines the time. If the old Mac is really an old one, then it might take three hours of time to complete. Also, the internet speed is also a determining factor here. So, users need to wait until the process is completed.

Disclaimer: At this point in time, the old Mac screen will go completely blank. It will be in clack mode till the completion of the process. There is no need to think that there might be some problem with the old Mac. And it is advised to the users to connect both devices with the power connection. Else, if any device shut down unexpectedly, then the user details & information will be lost forever. So, users need to pay attention in this case.

 

Step 2: When the process is completed, it will show the message on the New Mac. As all the processes will go up in the new Mac. After prompting out a successful message, the device will automatically restart. Users will find all the data there.

 

Hence, we have successfully transferred the data from the old Mac to the new Mac.
