PyQt5 QDateEdit – Assigning Description
Last Updated :
07 Jul, 2020
In this article we will see how we can assign a description to the QDateEdit. Description property holds the date edit’s description as seen by assistive technologies. The accessible description of a date edit should convey what date edit does. While the accessible name should be a short and concise string (e.g. Office Date), the description should give more context, such as Saves the selected date.
In order to do this we use setAccessibleDescription
method with the QDateEdit object
Syntax : date.setAccessibleDescription(text)
Argument : It takes string as argument
Return : It returns None
Below is the implementation
from PyQt5.QtWidgets import *
from PyQt5 import QtCore, QtGui
from PyQt5.QtGui import *
from PyQt5.QtCore import *
import sys
class Window(QMainWindow):
def __init__( self ):
super ().__init__()
self .setWindowTitle( "Python " )
self .setGeometry( 100 , 100 , 500 , 400 )
self .UiComponents()
self .show()
def UiComponents( self ):
date = QDateEdit( self )
date.setGeometry( 100 , 100 , 200 , 40 )
a_flag = Qt.AlignCenter
date.setAlignment(a_flag)
text = "Allow user to set date"
date.setAccessibleDescription(text)
App = QApplication(sys.argv)
window = Window()
sys.exit(App. exec ())
